The word Triveni is a combination of two words, Tri and Veni, which literally means a confluence of three. It is one of the most popular ghats of the river Ganga and remains crowded throughout the year. Many devotees visit this ghat for a holy bath and wash away all their sins.  

According to mythology, Lord Krishna had visited this place when he was hurt by the hunter Jara. Triveni Ghat is also a famous place where people perform the last rituals of their relatives. Lakshminarayan Temple and Gita Temple are the famous temples in this place. 

History About Triveni Ghat

Triveni Ghat has a high significance in Hindu mythology and is mentioned in different stories in Ramayana and Mahabharat. As per such tales, Lord Krishna had visited this place when the hunter Jara shut an arrow to him. 

This ghat also has famous Krishna Chatri that reminds Krishna’s visit to this place. It is believed that bathing at this ghat cleanses all sins of people. At Triveni Ghat, you can do boat riding. Swami Narayan Mission Society provides paid boat services in this place. 

Things To Do in Triveni Ghat 

Triveni Ghat has many things to do, and Ganga Aarti is one of the most famous attractions. Maha Aarti is performed every morning and evening with chanting of Bhajans, mantras, and thumping drums. You can seek blessings from Maa Ganga and Lord Krishna during this aarti. 

Triveni Ghat has a wide market where you can purchase several items, such as jewelry, gems, idols, Triveni images, attractive goodies, and many other items. You can do shopping here and get some unique items from the local market. 

Also, you can enjoy local food such as Aloo Bhaji, Gol Gappa, Sweets, and other food items in the streets of Triveni Ghat. Food stalls are located near the ghat, so you can enjoy your favorite foods here. Meditation is another important thing to do at Triveni Ghat. 

You can sit by the ghat and try to do meditation. It has a peaceful environment which is ideal for meditation and yoga practices. Also, there is a yoga center where you can learn yoga. There are several tourist locations such as Lakshman Jhula, Vashishta Gufa, Ram Jhula, and other places that you can explore during your visit.

Triveni ghat is situated in the holy city Rishikesh where you can reach by auto, taxi, or local bus. The nearest airport to Triveni Ghat is Dehradun airport which is 22 kilometers from this place. It is three kilometers away from the Rishikesh railway station.
